Keeping in line with our mission, we want to help you, so you can in turn help us, so together we can help our planet and those families who need it the most! Therefore, with this in mind, we sought to find a fabric for our sleepwear that was safe for your babies and for your planet. We dug deep, looked at how different fabrics originate, how they are cultivated and then right into manufacturing processes and working conditions of the people handling these processes.

Lyocell was the winner!

SUSTAINABLE AND NATURAL

We found Bamboo Lyocell, which is plant-based and an environmentally-sustainable material. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world, technically a grass rather than a tree, growing up to a metre in a single day and doesn’t require fertilizers, pesticides, or much water to grow for that matter as it is mostly grown in tropical areas where it rains quite a lot.

Its manufacturing process has the potential to use less than half the amount of water used in production than cotton requires. The manufacturing process used to break down the wood into pulp is a ‘closed-loop’ process that works to recover and decompose all the emissions or non-toxic organic solvents used in production, meaning the water and solvents can be reused for other batches over and over again, minimizing waste significantly, making it a great fabric for the environmentally-conscious and to have on your baby's skin as all solvents used are non-toxic.

BREATHABLE

Bamboo lyocell fabric is naturally light, breathable and moisture absorbent, wicking your baby's sweat and then releasing it into the air, keeping their body temperature steady. This means that wearing or sleeping on this fabric will keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Since it is 50% more moisture absorbent than cotton and even more so than wool, it prevents the growth of bacteria that cause odours and allergies, without the addition of chemicals. This combination keeps your baby safe during their sleep and their clothes will be bacteria-free longer thus reducing washings, water and energy.

HEALTHY

Bamboo lyocell is naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial. Reducing the amount of moisture in the body avoids one of the primary triggers of allergies at night, dust mites. Reducing itchiness and scratching at night will help your baby be more comfortable and allow them to sleep for longer without interruption.

COMFORTABLE

Lyocell is so soft to the touch that it has often been compared to silk. It's smooth on the skin making it very comfortable, and helping your baby sleep for longer when they need it. The design features we have included, such as zip covers, ensure your baby is also comfortable by design.
